The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that Israeli forces opened live fire at a diplomatic delegation during a field visit near a military checkpoint set up by Israeli troops at the entrance to Jenin refugee camp. The incident was captured on camera.
The Ministry noted that the visit had been coordinated and publicly announced ten days in advance. The delegation included ambassadors, consuls, and representatives from 32 countries and international organizations. The Ministry affirmed that the delegation traveled in clearly marked vehicles bearing distinctive diplomatic license plates and held a meeting with the Governor of Jenin and local community leaders for over two hours.
Following the meeting, the delegation proceeded in a diplomatic convoy to a checkpoint installed by Israeli forces. They remained at the site for more than 15 minutes while receiving a briefing on the situation in the camp from the Governor, accompanied by numerous journalists. During this time, Israeli forces began firing live rounds in the direction of the delegation.
Meanwhile, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, called on the Israeli occupation authorities to investigate the live fire directed at a diplomatic delegation while it was present at the entrance of the Jenin refugee camp.
Kallas also urged Israel to hold those responsible for the incident accountable, emphasizing that any threat to the lives of diplomats is unacceptable.
She said that, as a party to the Vienna Convention, Israel has an obligation to ensure the safety of all foreign diplomats.

The statement called on the Israeli side to provide the necessary clarifications regarding the circumstances of the incident.

Spokesperson of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Sufian Qudah, said “the Israeli attack is a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, constituting a serious breach of diplomatic norms and a criminal act.”
He also called on the international community to put a stop to the crimes perpetrated against the Palestinian people and to ensure accountability for those responsible.
The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing obstruction of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Committee expressed grave concern over reports indicating that more than 14,000 babies could die within hours if life-saving supplies are not allowed into the besieged Strip.
The Committee urged the international community to exert immediate pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to ensure the sustained and unimpeded delivery of essential food and medical aid.
