An informed official source involved in the indirect ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas told “Zaytoun News” that Hamas has committed to refraining from carrying out any operations across all Palestinian territories and to to fulfilling its commitments in Gaza, including the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The source added that Hamas also presented this commitment to U.S. officials and the mediating parties.
The movement had denied involvement in the recent shooting incident in Rafah targeting Israeli soldiers, stressing its adherence to the ceasefire agreement.
Observers note that Hamas is experiencing internal divisions, with such incidents reflecting internal dissent against its latest commitments with Israel.
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that violations of the ceasefire in Gaza are “disappointing and extremely frustrating,” commenting on the attacks on Israeli soldiers and Israel’s subsequent heavy airstrikes. He emphasized Qatar’s intensive engagement with both parties to ensure the ceasefire holds and highlighted Hamas’ willingness to relinquish governance, noting that Qatar is pressing the movement to acknowledge the need to disarm itself and other factions as part of the agreement.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed that Qatar’s mission is to secure the implementation of the agreement reached in Sharm El-Sheikh and to ensure safety for both Palestinians and Israelis, referencing the 20-point plan proposed by U.S. President Trump, which focuses on ending the war, halting annexation, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
