Gaza – Zaytoun News
The Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza reopened on Tuesday, enabling a new group of patients and humanitarian cases to leave the Gaza Strip and allowing Palestinians stranded on the Egyptian side to return home.
Local sources said the seventh group of humanitarian cases and patients departed for the Rafah crossing after completing procedures at the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, in the presence of representatives from the World Health Organization. The patients are now en route to hospitals outside the Gaza Strip to receive medical treatment.
Sources also reported the arrival of the seventh group of Palestinians who had been stranded in Egypt at the Egyptian side of the crossing, ahead of their entry into Gaza.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that it facilitated the departure of 50 travelers through the Rafah crossing, including 19 patients, as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to transfer patients and humanitarian cases for treatment abroad. The PRCS said the patients were received and provided with medical care at the Al-Mawasi field hospital, operated by the society in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.
Ambulance crews then transported and escorted the patients safely to the Rafah crossing, providing necessary medical care during transit and ensuring their safety until travel procedures were completed, despite extremely difficult humanitarian and health conditions.
On Monday, approximately 40 patients and their companions left the Gaza Strip, while another 40 Palestinians who had been stranded in Egypt arrived in Gaza.
