Reporters Without Borders condemned the killing of several Palestinian journalists by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza during a protest held in the French capital today.
According to a post by the organization on X, demonstrations took place in multiple countries, demanding protection for Palestinian journalists and honouring those who have lost their lives in Gaza.
One notable event occurred in the Human Rights Square near the Eiffel Tower, where activists displayed a banner reading, “Given the rate of journalist killings in Gaza, soon there will be no one left to keep you informed.”
Participants set up a tent adorned with white jackets marked with the word “Journalism” in red paint, symbolizing blood.
Thibaut Bruttin, the Director-General of Reporters Without Borders, stated that “the massacre of journalists in Gaza must stop.” He warned that the killing of over 130 journalists by Israeli forces in the past year poses a significant threat to the media landscape in the region.
Bruttin emphasized that these attacks not only target the press in Palestine but also endanger the public’s right to access independent information from one of the world’s most closely watched conflict zones.
