The United Nations chief Tuesday called for peace in Palestine and Lebanon based on international law and the implementation of the United Nations resolutions.
Speaking at the opening session of the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum in the Portuguese city of Cascais, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated: “And everywhere, tensions are mounting. Human rights are under attack. The climate crisis keeps worsening. Sectarianism – of all kinds – is proliferating. And conflicts and wars are fueling and accentuating each of these threats.”
“In these times, we need peace. Above all, peace!” he added.
He stressed the need for “Peace in Gaza — with an immediate cease-fire” along with “the effective and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, and the beginning of an irreversible process towards a two-State solution.”
