The head of the Religious Zionism Party, the extremist Israeli occupation Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, called for reoccupying the Gaza Strip and displacing half of its population, in an attempt to further the genocide committed by the occupation army since October 7, 2023.
This came during a speech by the extremist Smotrich at a conference of the Israeli Settlements Council.
Smotrich said, “It is possible and necessary to occupy the Gaza Strip, and there is no need to be afraid of this word,” according to his expression.
Smotrich rejected Israeli warnings that reoccupying the Gaza Strip “will cost Israel a lot of money.”
He renewed his call for what he called the voluntary migration of Palestinian citizens from the Gaza Strip to reduce the population by half in less than two years.
He said about this, “Encouraging voluntary migration is a possibility that is opening up, and it is possible to create a situation whereby in two years there will be less than half of its current population in Gaza, with full control from the State of Israel.”
Israel dismantled its colonies and withdrew its army from the Gaza Strip following a unilateral disengagement in 2005. Smotrich is a staunch supporter of continuing the genocide in the Gaza Strip, reoccupying the Strip, establishing Israeli settlements there, and displacing the population through what he calls “voluntary migration.”
