Palestinian photojournalist Mohammed Alaa’ Al-Sawalhi was killed yesterday evening in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City.
The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate mourned al-Sawalhi, a cameraman for Al-Quds Al-Youm TV, who was killed in Gaza City in a direct Israeli airstrike while performing his journalistic duty covering the crimes of the Israeli aggression.
In its statement, the syndicate stressed that the assassination of al-Sawalhi reflects the continuation of the systematic aggression on journalists and media institutions in Palestine, aimed at silencing the voice of truth and concealing crimes committed against the Palestinian people. It slammed the repeated targeting of journalists as a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions that guarantee the protection of journalists in conflict zones.
The syndicate condemned the suspicious international silence and the reliance on mere condemnation statements, stressing that this failure only emboldens Israel to persist in its crimes against journalists and civilians.
